Finding The Right Photographer | Faith Herring
Hey, friends and welcome to my first blog post! Let’s go over why finding the right photographer is so important to your BIG day, the reasons why you need to do your research, and how to know you’ve found the one for you. Picture this…You just got engaged and now you’ve started planning your dream wedding. What to do now, right? You may see many big opinions on the internet telling you to do your research on photographers before you pick one. Oftentimes these big opinions are steering you in the right direction. Doing your research on a photographer is so important because it will give you the best client experience.
Client Experience
What is client experience? Client experience is how you are treated from your initial inquiry all the way to the finished product. Let me walk you through my client experience as a wedding photographer. After you send your initial inquiry you will receive a personal response from me that includes a detailed pricing guide. The pricing guide tells you all about my approach, what your experience would be like, and even the pricing breakdown with everything that’s included in the package you choose.
Imagery Connection
When doing research on photographers, what you don’t want to do is just go to google and pick the first one that appears. You’ll want to go to their websites and look into the images they specifically have published on there. Photographers will have the best work on their website, and sometimes they will have their personal favorites to attract like minded clientele. Here are some important questions you need to ask yourself as you browse through. When you look at their pictures do you feel connected to them? Do they catch your eye? Do they represent what you want your pictures to look like? If you connect to a photographers portfolio, more than likely you will connect with them!
Personal Connection
In my humble opinion I think a personal connection is far more important than connecting with the photographer’s work. On a photographer’s social media and on their website they will “speak” how they would in person. Take a look at their social media posts and read the captions along with how they respond to comments. This will give you a good idea of how that photographer will treat you! I strive to keep everything within my business branding the same. So, the way that I “talk” on my website, socials, and even this blog…is exactly how I talk in person. I want to have fun with my clients/ “friends” (because you truly will be a friend at the end of your photography experience), I want to be a little unserious, and I want to do life with you!
The Price
After all of this heavy research in finding the right photographer, price shouldn’t be a turn off! If you are specifically going for a low budget on a photographer, I want to make you aware of how you could be kicking your future self. Think about it this way…the photographer is the ONLY ONE freeze framing every moment of your day. Let’s get even deeper…your photographer may be the very last person to capture the essence of your grandparents. Just think about that for a second. Isn’t that moment of hugging your grandma in your wedding dress for the first time something that needs to be captured “just right”? The tears running down your parents’ faces as they let their child feel the love of marriage like they felt not too long ago. Those moments are PRICELESS! Moments that time doesn’t wait for, so I encourage you…If you are connected with a photographer’s work, and their personality. Don’t hesitate to book them…because that connection you feel is PRICELESS.
